Writing progress
For the first time, I'm writing, like, a plotty, multichapter sort of fic with a very porny premise. I'm just now realizing it consists of two main components: 1-on-1 conversations that establish characterization and drive forward character development and plot; and then sex scenes that function as connective tissue that motivates/lays the groundwork for the characters to have those more important conversations.
This is TERRIBLE because it means in order to get to the emotional meat of the fic (the personal conversations) I need to write at least one sex scene. It's really easy to bang out conversations and character study bits, but I am extremely slow at writing porn. Writing it is like pulling teeth and I STILL haven't gotten to the emotionally satisfying parts that actually shape the direction of the fic.
I've never had this problem before... It's always been either (1) PWP (no plot needed! just write one sex scene!); (2) long plotty conversation/character study scenes culminating in a single sex scene (very delayed payoff but easy!); or (3) dramatic conversations or sex scenes as the major emotional beats, with non-sex establishing scenes as the major boring connective tissue that has to be written.
Very weird to be in a situation that is the inverse of (3).
